Durr: Murphy Administration Needs to Stop Blaming New Jerseyans for MVC Problems
Senator Edward Durr says the Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC) needs to own up to its mistakes and that the recent comments made by MVC Chief Sue Fulton are unhelpful and out of touch.

“It’s shocking that the MVC Chief would blame New Jerseyans for the agency’s abysmal performance during the pandemic. Perhaps the individuals in charge should focus more on addressing the concerns of drivers instead of playing the blame game,” said Durr (R-3). “The fact is, since the beginning of this pandemic, most New Jerseyans have had to put up with persistent lines, extremely long wait times, and poor customer service. This is inexcusable, and if the MVC were in the private sector, it would have been put out of business a long time ago.”
Durr: Where’s Murphy’s Vigil for Nursing Home Victims, Aborted Babies, Families Devastated by Unemployment Failures?
Governor Should Show Same Concern for New Jerseyans That He’s Showing for People Thousands of Miles Away
With Governor Phil Murphy set to attend a prayer vigil this evening for those suffering in Ukraine, Senator Ed Durr asked when the governor is going to show concern for thousands of nursing home victims, aborted babies, and families devastated financially by his administration’s unemployment system failures.

“The people of Ukraine are suffering horribly right now and they deserve all of our prayers,” said Durr (R-3). “While I’m glad Governor Murphy is supporting New Jersey’s Ukrainian community during this difficult time, I have to ask where’s the vigil for the nearly 10,000 victims in New Jersey’s nursing homes and veterans homes? Where’s the vigil for the countless babies who will die under the abortion bill he just signed into law? Where’s the vigil for the tens of thousands of New Jersey families that were destroyed financially when his administration failed to give them the unemployment benefits they were owed?”
Durr: Murphy Wasting Resources on Peaceful Trucker Rally in D.C. While Basic State Services Inaccessible
Senator Edward Durr said Governor Phil Murphy’s plan to send New Jersey National Guard troops to Washington, D.C. for a peaceful rally planned by truck drivers is a waste of resources when many State services remain inaccessible to New Jerseyans.

“A peaceful truck rally in Washington is where Governor Murphy thinks he should dedicate State resources while unemployment offices remain closed, the MVC is still a mess, and thousands of Corrections Officers and health care professionals are on the verge of losing their jobs due to unnecessary vaccine mandates,” said Durr (R-3), a career truck driver. “It’s another example of Governor Murphy focusing on Washington instead of helping people here in New Jersey. It’s beyond offensive.”
Durr: Murphy Calls Me ‘Dangerous’ While He Releases More Criminals into Our Communities
Senator Ed Durr said it’s crazy that Governor Phil Murphy calls him “dangerous” while the Murphy administration is releasing even more prisoners from jail amid surging crime in many New Jersey communities.

“Governor Murphy clearly doesn’t see the irony of calling me ‘dangerous’ when he let criminals out of jail who killed people shortly after he set them free,” said Durr (R-3). “Those tragedies weren’t enough to convince the governor that his early release program was dangerous for New Jersey. He doubled down by setting hundreds more inmates free yesterday. It’s absolutely crazy.”
Durr: Vaccine Passports Shouldn’t Limit Access to Kids’ Sporting Events (or Anywhere)
Senator’s Bill Would Ban Use of Vaccine Passports in New Jersey
Senator Ed Durr said he was shocked when people were denied entry to children’s basketball game in his legislative district last night due to their vaccination status, saying it’s more proof that vaccine passports need to be banned in New Jersey.

“I was one of the many people who were shocked and disappointed when we were denied entry to a rec basketball game last night in Logan Twp. because we couldn’t or wouldn’t comply with a proof-of-vaccination requirement,” said Durr (R-3). “I don’t know if this was the policy of the school where the game was being held or the league’s, but I know it’s wrong. That’s why the very first bill I introduced as a senator would ban the use of vaccine passports in New Jersey.”
Durr Introduces Bill that Would Give Parents Veto Power on Masks in Schools
Senator Edward Durr has introduced legislation that would require schools in New Jersey to obtain approval from parents before mandating that children utilize “medical devices” such as masks.

“For nearly two years, New Jersey schools have been subject to the Governor’s dictatorial-style masking orders that blatantly ignore the legislative process and, by extension, the will of the people. This is why now, more than ever before, we need to give parents a greater voice in determining the policies that affect the lives of their children,” said Durr (R-3). “My legislation will leave the decision on whether children should wear masks up to their parents, not Governor Murphy. It’s time to rein in the Governor and restore power to the elected representatives in the Legislature, as intended by our constitution.”
Durr: Murphy Should Stop Dangerous Rhetoric Comparing Unvaccinated to Drunk Drivers
Responding to Governor Phil Murphy comparing those who choose not to get the COVID vaccination to drunk drivers, Senator Ed Durr said the comparison is wrong.

“Governor Phil Murphy was wrong to compare the unvaccinated to drunk drivers,” said Durr (R-3). “It’s the kind of rhetoric that unnecessarily scares people, which has been the Democrats’ strategy all along.”
Durr: No More Murphy Mandates
Calls for Legislative Leadership to Take Back Power Ceded to Executive Branch
Senator Edward Durr said a nonsensical executive order issued by Governor Phil Murphy yesterday further demonstrates why the New Jersey Legislature must act to limit the emergency powers of the Executive Branch.

“Testing seems to be the one thing that’s somewhat effective at stopping the spread of the Omicron variant, so it doesn’t make any sense for Governor Murphy take that away as an option for health care workers,” said Durr (R-3). “Nurses know that, which is exactly why their union blasted the executive order saying it ‘eliminated an important tool in slowing the spread of the virus.’ The same people the governor called heroes not too long ago he’s now calling selfish and refuses to trust.”

“The public needs to know what is happening on the other side of the globe, and the atrocities being leveled against a group of human beings who have done nothing wrong,” said Durr (R-3). “The American people have always had a soft spot for the underdog, and the Uyghurs are certainly the underdogs in China.
