Included below is his testimony as prepared for delivery:
Chairwoman Greenstein and members of the Senate Law and Public Safety Committee, thank you for giving me the opportunity to speak on this bill today. As a vocal supporter of the Second Amendment and the rights it protects, in a State that seems to pride itself on infringing on those rights, I feel obligated to put my concerns about this bill on the record.
Electric Vehicle Fires Prompt Durr to Introduce Legislation Requiring More Training for First Responders

“As electric vehicles become more common on our roadways, it is important for firefighters and EMTs to be educated when responding to accidents involving these vehicles,” said Durr (R-3). “While the risk of an EV fire is low, managing such a fire requires specialized training since a lithium-ion battery can burn hotter and for a longer period of time than a gasoline engine. My legislation will make sure our first responders receive the necessary funding and training they need so that they are prepared to confront these challenges in the future.”

“We’ve yet to see a draft of the bill, but based on what the Democrat Legislative Leaders described today, it is clear their intent is to override the Constitution and the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent decision in Bruen.

“Children do not have the maturity to make life-changing medical decisions that cannot be reversed,” said Durr (R-3). “We cannot discount the fact that 10-, 11-, and 12-year-old children are extremely impressionable and can be influenced by adults who may push them to make choices they cannot fully comprehend. We can protect children from unnecessary and permanent harm by delaying these important decisions until they are adults.”

“The Murphy administration is only lowering the gas tax by a penny because that’s what the law requires them to do,” said Durr (R-3). “That might save a family 15 cents a week when they fill their tank. That’s not the kind of savings that will help New Jerseyans struggling with lingering high gas prices and the highest inflation in more than 40 years.”
Durr Introduces Resolution Memorializing Disabled Man Who Died at Group Home

The Senator introduced a resolution that would designate August 27 of each year as Billy Cray Day.
“We cannot allow the mistreatment and tragic loss of William ‘Billy’ Cray to fade from our conscience,” said Durr (R-3). “The injustice Billy endured while in the care of state-licensed group home, the injuries he suffered and the bruises he carried to his grave demand more.”
Durr Calls on Murphy to Lift all COVID Vaccine Mandates
Following updated guidance from the CDC, Senator Edward Durr called on Governor Murphy to immediately lift all COVID-19 vaccine mandates, including mandates for health care workers and those who are employed in nursing homes and correctional facilities.

“Although I am pleased that Governor Murphy finally lifted the unnecessary COVID testing rules for teachers and state workers, more needs to be done,” said Durr (R-3). “To this day, health care workers, corrections officers, and those who work in nursing homes are still required to be vaccinated and boosted. These types of mandates do not provide any measurable benefit and are not even supported by the latest data. There is simply no reason for COVID vaccine mandates to still exist—they should all be abolished immediately.”
Durr: Despite What NJEA Says, Parents Not “Extremists” for Expressing Concerns About Sex Education Mandates
Senator Ed Durr responded to an advertisement from the New Jersey Education Association (NJEA) that labels parents extremists for expressing concerns about new curriculum and sex education mandates from Trenton.

“Despite what the NJEA says, parents are not extremists for expressing concerns about curriculum mandates or wanting to have a voice in their children’s education,” said Durr (R-3). “It’s another example of the NJEA being out of touch with parents and totally tone deaf to their concerns that sensitive topics such as sex education and gender identity are not appropriate for young kids. Frankly, the NJEA is taking an extreme position by attacking parents instead of listening to them.”
Durr Blasts NJEA for KGB-Like Effort to Have Teachers Report Parents Who Express Concerns
Senator Ed Durr blasted the New Jersey Education Association (NJEA) for urging teachers to submit reports about parents and community groups that have expressed concerns about school-related matters that involve their children.

“The NJEA is so afraid of parents that they’re resorting to KGB tactics to squash any effort in local communities to challenge the indoctrination of children in our schools,” said Durr (R-3). “If a parent or group of parents express concerns about curriculum, teaching materials, or age-inappropriate books in school libraries, the clear threat is that they’ll be reported to and attacked by the NJEA.”
Durr: Millions for Planned Parenthood Means Taxpayer-Funded Abortions
Within the lines of the Democrats’ $50.6 billion budget, state support for Planned Parenthood was doubled to more than $40 million, an increase Senator Ed Durr called “disgraceful.”

“It is a sad situation in New Jersey where we have a Governor who is more committed to aborting babies than helping residents struggling to keep their heads above water under his reckless fiscal management,” said Durr (R-3). “While young mothers who carry their babies to term stress over buying formula, paying the rent, and rising taxes, the Murphy Administration has made terminating pregnancies a priority.”
