“Composting has significant economic benefits for those in the agricultural industry,” said Durr (R-3). “Farmers who use compost actually spend far less money on expensive fertilizers and pesticides, water, and irrigation. That savings can then be reinvested in the local economy or used to make improvements on the farm. My legislation will not only recognize the importance of composting, but will further encourage the practice by businesses and individuals.”
Durr Calls for Pause in Surveying for Wind Farms as More Dead Whales Wash Ashore
Senator Ed Durr joined a growing chorus of state and federal lawmakers in calling for a pause in wind farm development activities as more dead whales continue to wash ashore.

“Some people are adamantly denying that the sudden surge in dead whales is linked to wind farm survey work, but the truth is they don’t really know,” said Durr (R-3). “We don’t know if sonar or drilling used to conduct surveys of the ocean floor is disrupting the ability of whales to navigate safely, possibly leading to more deadly groundings and vessel strikes. Unless we want to risk more dead whales on our beaches, we should pause the survey work to investigate.”

“Governor Murphy and Trenton Democrats have not hidden the fact that they dislike the 2nd Amendment and are trying to circumvent a U.S. Supreme Court ruling that reaffirmed the constitutional rights of New Jerseyans to protect themselves.

Durr: Proposed Route for Glassboro-Camden Line is a Patchwork Approach to South Jersey Rail Service
Senator Edward Durr slammed the proposed route for the Glassboro-Camden Line, calling the 18-mile commuter rail project in its current form a patchwork approach that will divide smaller towns, increase traffic, and endanger the safety of residents.

“I do not oppose a new rail system to help commuters and residents, but the current route being put forward for the Glassboro-Camden rail line will hurt more than it will help South Jersey,” said Durr (R-3). “This project has been in the works on and off since the 1990s, and at one point, was planned to run on the Route 55 median—which was, and still is, a sensible solution because it would not impact smaller towns. The route that is being suggested now cuts directly through the heart of 12 different municipalities with little regard for traffic, parking, and noise from a diesel-electric train running every 10 minutes.”
Panel Advances Pennacchio/Durr Bill Securing Access to Public Lakes for Recreational Fishermen

“There is growing concern about the lack of public boat launches,” noted Pennacchio (R-26). “New Jersey is home to public lakes that are open to bass boats and motorized vessels, but recreational boaters who don’t live on the lake or have private docks find it impossible to get into the water.”

Chairwoman Greenstein and members of the Senate Law and Public Safety Committee, thank you for giving me the opportunity to speak on this bill today. As a vocal supporter of the Second Amendment and the rights it protects, in a State that seems to pride itself on infringing on those rights, I feel obligated to put my concerns about this bill on the record.
Electric Vehicle Fires Prompt Durr to Introduce Legislation Requiring More Training for First Responders

“As electric vehicles become more common on our roadways, it is important for firefighters and EMTs to be educated when responding to accidents involving these vehicles,” said Durr (R-3). “While the risk of an EV fire is low, managing such a fire requires specialized training since a lithium-ion battery can burn hotter and for a longer period of time than a gasoline engine. My legislation will make sure our first responders receive the necessary funding and training they need so that they are prepared to confront these challenges in the future.”
